Head, Agricultural Economics, Value Addition & Agricultural MSME Development
Rose Ogalla
Connecting agricultural production to value addition, enterprise development and markets.
Mrs. Rose Ogalla is an agricultural economics and agricultural enterprise professional with experience spanning agricultural extension, farmer advisory services, agricultural data collection, agricultural MSME development, rural community development, value addition and agricultural supply-chain activities.
Her background provides Excel Agro Value Chain Nigeria Limited (EXCELAGROVC) with an important commercial and economic perspective within its agricultural ecosystem. While EXCELAGROVC's digital infrastructure is designed to connect farmers with finance, markets, insurance, inputs and other agricultural services, Rose's role focuses on helping farmers and agricultural MSMEs understand how to transform agricultural production into sustainable and commercially viable enterprises.
Her experience combines agricultural economics with practical exposure to farming communities, farmer advisory services, agricultural intervention programmes, food processing and value addition.
Academic Foundation
Rose holds a B.Tech in Agricultural Economics, providing her with a foundation in agricultural production economics, farm management, agricultural markets, resource utilisation, value-chain analysis and the economic factors influencing agricultural enterprises.
Her academic background complements her practical experience in farmer engagement, agricultural extension, data collection, agricultural projects and food processing.
Agricultural Enterprise and Food-Value-Addition Experience
Rose is currently the Managing Director of Eleojo & Ojonimi Food and Farms, a family agricultural and food business, and the Founder/CEO of Olla-Ray Essentials, her personal agricultural value-addition brand.
Through these businesses, she has developed practical experience in sourcing agricultural products directly from farm gates and open markets, processing them and converting raw agricultural commodities into packaged consumer products.
Her value-added product activities include products such as:
Dehydrated vegetables;
Spices;
Cocoyam powder;
Different varieties of pap;
Beans flour;
Kunun Aya mix;
Date and groundnut-based sweetener blends;
Date powder; and
Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil.
This practical experience gives Rose first-hand understanding of the journey from:
Farm Production → Sourcing → Processing → Value Addition → Packaging → Distribution → Consumer
Her broader objective is to contribute to the reduction of post-harvest food losses and agricultural waste, beginning at community level, by converting agricultural produce that may otherwise have limited shelf life into products with longer usability and greater commercial value.
This experience is particularly relevant to EXCELAGROVC's objective of connecting primary agricultural production with processors, MSMEs, markets and consumers.
Agricultural MSME Development
Rose has a strong interest and practical orientation towards Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and rural enterprise development.
Her role at EXCELAGROVC is therefore not limited to agricultural production. She will also focus on helping farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs understand the commercial opportunities that exist beyond the farm gate.
This includes supporting the development of agricultural businesses around:
Food processing;
Agricultural value addition;
Packaging;
Farm-gate aggregation;
Small-scale manufacturing;
Agricultural trading;
Rural enterprises;
Women and youth-led agribusinesses;
Agricultural services; and
Local agricultural supply chains.
Her approach is based on the principle that farmers can create greater economic value when agricultural production is connected to processing, markets and enterprise development.
Kogi Green Revolution Agricultural Intervention Project — 2024
Rose gained further practical agricultural experience through her participation in the Kogi Green Revolution Agricultural Intervention Project in 2024.
She worked as an Enumerator at Jimgbe, Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State, supporting agricultural intervention activities covering both wet- and dry-season farming.
The crops involved included:
Maize;
Rice; and
Cassava.
Her field activities also covered locations including Ero, Gidan Gwari and other agricultural communities within Ajaokuta LGA.
This experience provided exposure to farmer interaction, field-level agricultural data collection and the practical realities of implementing agricultural interventions at community level.
Experience with Excel Agro Value Chain Nigeria Limited
Rose has also provided agricultural-extension services to Excel Agro Value Chain Nigeria Limited.
Her responsibilities included:
Agricultural extension;
Farm supervision;
Monitoring agricultural farmland;
Agricultural data collection;
Farmer interaction; and
Field-level agricultural support.
This experience has enabled her to develop a practical understanding of the relationship between farmers, agricultural production, field data and agricultural business operations.
Her experience within EXCELAGROVC also complements the company's broader objective of developing a continuously updated digital agricultural ecosystem in which farmer information can support appropriate agricultural services and commercial opportunities.
N-Power / Stock and Minas Consult Ltd.
Between 2016 and 2020, Rose was involved in agricultural activities through Stock and Minas Consult Ltd., where she gained further experience in farmer engagement and agricultural programme implementation.
Her responsibilities included:
Farmer advisory services;
Farmer registration;
Farmer training;
Agricultural data collection;
Relationship management;
Monitoring loan utilisation; and
Managing and monitoring interest-related information.
This experience is particularly relevant to EXCELAGROVC because the company's agricultural-finance model requires field-level understanding of the relationship between:
Farmer → Registration → Financing → Production → Loan Utilisation → Monitoring → Repayment
Her previous exposure to farmer registration and loan-utilisation monitoring provides a practical foundation for EXCELAGROVC's proposed digital farmer onboarding and agricultural-finance monitoring ecosystem.
Financial-Sector Exposure
Rose also has exposure to the formal financial-services environment through her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) placement with First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Minna, Niger State, where she served from April 2008 to February 2009.
This experience gave her exposure to the operational environment of a formal financial institution.
Her combination of agricultural economics, agricultural field experience and financial-sector exposure provides a useful perspective for EXCELAGROVC's objective of connecting agricultural businesses and farmers with appropriate financial services.
Ministry of Agriculture Experience
From August 2006 to November 2007, Rose worked with the Ministry of Agriculture, Planning, Research and Statistics Department.
This provided her with exposure to agricultural-sector administration, planning, research and agricultural information.
Her experience in this environment contributes to her understanding of the importance of reliable agricultural data and evidence-based planning in the development of agricultural programmes.
Supply Chain and Distribution Experience
Rose also gained practical supply-chain and distribution experience during her time with Nigerian Breweries PLC, where she worked from February 2006 to July 2006 in the Delivery/Returns Unit of the Distribution/Supply Chain Division.
Her responsibilities included:
Invoice checking;
Distribution;
Transportation;
Ship-berth supervision;
Stock management; and
Management of full and empty crates.
Although outside direct agricultural production, this experience provided exposure to the movement and management of products through a structured commercial supply chain.
This complements her agricultural value-chain experience, particularly in understanding the importance of logistics, inventory, distribution and product movement in achieving commercial success.
Connecting Agricultural Production to Commercial Value
One of Rose's strategic contributions to EXCELAGROVC is her ability to view agriculture not simply as primary production, but as an interconnected economic system.
Her experience enables her to examine the complete value chain:
Farmer → Farm Gate → Aggregation → Processing → Value Addition → Packaging → Distribution → Market → Consumer
This perspective supports EXCELAGROVC's broader vision of connecting farmers and agricultural MSMEs to the financial, technological and commercial infrastructure required to create sustainable value.
Her Role at Excel Agro Value Chain Nigeria Limited
As Head, Agricultural Economics, Value Addition & Agricultural MSME Development, Rose will contribute to the development of commercially viable agricultural enterprises within the EXCELAGROVC ecosystem.

Strategic Contribution to EXCELAGROVC
Rose brings a valuable combination of agricultural economics, farmer advisory experience, agricultural field exposure, MSME development, food processing, value addition, supply-chain knowledge and community-oriented enterprise development to the EXCELAGROVC management team.
Her experience strengthens an important component of EXCELAGROVC's strategy: ensuring that agricultural production does not end at the farm gate.
EXCELAGROVC's objective is to create an ecosystem where farmers and agricultural MSMEs can progressively move from:
Production → Productivity → Aggregation → Financing → Value Addition → Market Access → Enterprise Growth
Through her role, Rose will help EXCELAGROVC identify opportunities to transform agricultural commodities into commercially viable products and support the development of agricultural MSMEs capable of participating more effectively in local, regional and eventually wider markets.
Her work also supports EXCELAGROVC's broader commitment to reducing agricultural waste, encouraging rural enterprise development and creating greater economic value from agricultural production.
Ultimately, her role is aligned with one of EXCELAGROVC's central principles:
Agriculture creates greater economic impact when production is connected to value addition, enterprise development, finance and markets.
Through agricultural economics, value addition and MSME development, Rose contributes to EXCELAGROVC's vision of building an integrated agricultural ecosystem in which farmers, processors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions and markets can participate in a more connected and commercially productive value chain.
