Onuminya John James

Onuminya John James graduated from the Federal university of Technology, Yola, Adamawa State with a B. Agric. Tech. (Crop Production and Horticulture), Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) from the Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and an MSC Environmental Resource Management from the Nassarawa State University, Keffi, Nassarawa State.
He is very passionate about agriculture, food sustainability and food security.
Research work done;
1. A survey of insect pest of dry season vegetable around Lake Geriyo, Adamawa state (A project submitted to the Dept. of Crop Production and Horticulture in partial fulfillment of the award of B. Tech.(Agric.)
2. Upgrading the process and preservation techniques of our traditional food (DADAWA) produced from African Locust Bean (parkia biolobosa). (A mini project submitted to the Dept. of Food Science and Technology for the award of B.Tech.)
3. An assessment of integration of climate change adaptation strategies in crop extension system in Nasarawa State Nigeria. A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment for the award of masters of science in environmental resource management of the department of Geography, Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
Participated in the following;
1. Feasibility study on the establishment of a 50,000 layer unit in battery cages with automatic drinkers, feeders, fattening of 20 bulls annually, production of 151,300 table fish per annum and production of honey, snail and grass cutter. Establishment of 70HA mango, 30HA citrus, 10HA cashew, 10HA guava.
2. Feasibility study for the expansion of an existing 45,000 layer unit to 70,000 layer unit for Adar Global Ventures Ltd, Jos.
3. Feasibility study for the expansion project for Pioneer Milling Ltd, Jos.
4. The baseline study for Plateau State Agricultural Production for German Technical Corporation in Nigeria (GTZ).
5. The value chain study for building construction in Plateau and Niger States, for German Technical Corporation (GTZ).
6. Management training on Loan Administration and Management; conducted for middle level managers of Agricultural Banks, facilitated by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID).
7. Feasibility study on large scale mechanized farming (production of mangoes and vegetables) and processing of mangoes into concentrate and tomatoes into paste using 5 ton/hr processing plants: production of mango seedlings and sweet pepper in net house for Gesedado Farms Nig. Ltd (Afri-Fruits Ltd).
